About NSS
National Service Scheme, also known as NSS.  It is a flagship programme by Govt. of India under Ministry of Cultural and Youth Affairs.  It was launched on 24th Sept., 1969 on birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.  The sole aim of NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

Objectives:

  • To encourage young NSS volunteers to develop their personality through community service.
    To motivate NSS volunteers for continuing their selfless service towards community work.
  • To understand community in which they work.
  • To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving.
  • To develop among them a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • To practice National Integration and Social Harmony.
  • To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  • To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • To understand themselves in relation to their community.

Activities Organised by NSS:

  • Three One Day Camps throughout the year
  • One Special Seven Day Camp in a year
  • Tree Plantation
  • Cleanliness Drive
  • Blood Donation Camps
  • Rallies on various issues like Water Conservation, Literacy, Stubble burning, Women Empowerment, Communal Harmony, Health Education and relief work during natural calamities.
